Twitter Is Raving Over The 'Bobrisky Drama'. Here's Everything You Need to Know

It has been a roller-coaster of mixed emotions on Twitter since two speakers that were supposed to speak at a conference on new media organized by EiENigeria dropped out because of the inclusion of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

For those who don't know, Bobrisky a.k.a Africa's first male barbie is a controversial social media celeb who is popular for his skin products and his bizarre fashion and lifestyle.

Let's back up a bit, here's a brief background on all the drama...

Shortly after declining the invitation to speak at the New media, Citizens, and Governance Conference, Bashir Ahmad, P.A to Pres. Buhari on New media, and Subomi Plumptre of Alder Consulting, took to Twitter to announce their decision to drop out as speakers during the event. They made it rather clear that the inclusion of Bobrisky as a co-speaker was the reason for their dropping out.

Bashir, who rejected to 'share the same podium' with Bobrisky tweeted that he would not be attending the conference and added that while some have commended him for his decision, others have condemned him.

Subomi, on the other hand, did not make a statement herself. She, however, retweeted a 'lengthy' statement by her company, Alder Consulting. They said speaking on the same podium with Bobrisky violates their company's values, and that his inclusion 'sensationalizes and radicalizes what should have been a serious discourse', in other words calling him a joke.

So, why do these people dislike Bobrisky so much that they had to drop out of the conference?

Bobrisky has been tagged as controversial because of his looks, style, lifestyle and comments online. There have also been rumors of his sexual orientation, although he has yet to confirm anything.

As for the real motive for Subomi and Bashir's decision, we can only speculate.
